Young Startup “GYMWATCH” Reach Their Crowdfunding Goal on Indiegogo and Starts Production of the GYMWATCH Sensor - The GYMWATCH Sensor is an Innovative Fitness Tracker

GYMWATCH has developed a patent-protected sensor that measures strength and motion in actually every fitness exercise. The team reached their crowdfunding goal on indiegogo.com and starts the production of the first series.

Darmstadt May 20, 2014
The startup GYMWATCH launched an international crowdfunding campaign on the platform Indiegogo to finance the production of the GYMWATCH® Sensor. The team has reached their funding goal of $85,000 USD and now, they can start producing the first series.

Fitness fanatics interested in GYMWATCH who want to support the company can still make donations or order the sensor via the campaign page. GYMWATCH has developed a patent-protected sensor that measures strength and motion in every fitness exercise.

The fitness tracker will be available at the end of July. The first action of the team after reaching the funding goal was to order 2,000 circuit boards and 2,000 batteries for the first pre-orders.

The GYMWATCH Sensor tracks every strength component, like starting strength, explosive strength or speed strength, as well as the precise motion amplitude in every exercise. It can differentiate between full and partial repetitions and the time under tension of eccentric, concentric and static muscle contractions.

The GYMWATCH Sensor is easy to use and is versatile applicable, key features include:
  • Tracking strength exercises with free weights, body weight or exercises on machines, as well as tracking cardio training.
  • It automatically calculates the optimum weight to avoid overloading or under-loading, and to achieve goals as fast as possible.
  • Different training modes: If the user choose the Free-Mode, he can start the training immediately without having a fixed training plan. In Guided-Mode, it is possible to choose from different workout templates – here, the smartphone becomes a personal trainer and guides the user through the training process.
The sensor includes Bluetooth, Bluetooth smart and ANT. This allows the user to connect the sensor with the GYMWATCH iPhone and Android app which gives the user visual and auditory, real-time feedback. The user can also connect the sensor to computers or other devices to show the training data and live feedback on every screen, even at home or in the gym.

The app synchronizes with a free web portal that supports the user with extensive functions for training management. Scientific algorithms support the user in planning and analyzing fitness training by considering individual goals, personal data, and the training data calculated by the sensor.
