TravelChair Supplies OE Seats to Diablo Paddlesports and KC Kayaks

TravelChair Supplying Original Equipment Kayak Seats for Diablo Paddlesports and KC Kayaks
GIG HARBOR, Wash. – March 26, 2014TravelChair, the leading manufacturer of bomber, lightweight, packable, folding camp furniture, has partnered exclusively with KC Kayaks and Diablo Paddlesports to supply original equipment kayak seats for 2014 and beyond.

TravelChair offers over 40 different models of durable, lightweight, and comfortable camp chairs, cots, folding tables and camp stools that are simple in design, easy to use, set up quick and pack down small.

“We approached TravelChair to help us design our kayak seat because of their expertise in designing and manufacturing lightweight, comfortable camp chairs and their strong brand recognition among consumers,” states KC Kayaks co-founder Gaines Garret.

TravelChair will provide KC Kayaks with a custom designed seat that will be standard equipment in their K-12 and Scout models. The seat, an all-new design based loosely on TravelChair’s Larry Chair, is secured to the boat via integrated accessory rails. The reversible seat can be raised or lowered, positioned anywhere along the rails and removed entirely from the boat.

The founders of Diablo Paddlesports first saw the Larry Chair in a new product showcase at Outdoor Retailer and thinking it might be a perfect seat for their kayaks, asked TravelChair for samples to test.

“We headed down to Moab to run the Colorado River right after OR and decided to test the Larry Chair in our boats right then and there,” recalls Thomas Flemmons, co-founder of Diablo Paddlesports. “When we didn’t flip we knew we had found a winner.”

The team at Diablo designed their Chupacabra and Adios boat seat attachment systems to work directly with the Larry Chair. Providing a more comfortable seating position and ride,  the Larry Chair sits 10″ above the boat deck making it easier to transition between sitting and standing. The seat folds for storage and can be removed from the boat to use in camp. For 2014, Diablo designed their new Amigo kayak with molded in recesses for the Larry Chair, making it even easier to use.

“We are excited with the OE partnerships we have in place with KC Kayaks and Diablo,” said Daniel Roso, VP of Sales and Marketing for TravelChair. “Each partner needed a unique seating solution for their kayaks and we are happy they recognized TravelChair as the way to outfit their boats with the best seats available.”

ABOUT DIABLO PADDLESPORTS

Diablo Paddlesports is the dream of two lifetime outdoorsman and river rats. Founded in 2009 and based in Austin, TX, Diablo based their kayak design on a need for a single watercraft that offered the benefits of both a stand-up paddleboard and a kayak. As a result they developed the “sup-yak” concept of fishing kayaks. This unique design allows for a boat that remains stable whether standing or sitting, maneuvers well in shallow water, and offers the all the comforts, such as dry storage, wet storage, paddle and drink holders as well as a comfortable seat.
