Trade show : ISPO Munich to Host Second Installment of the Tailgate Munich World Freeride Expo 2014

Valdez, Alaska – October 15, 2013  After the successful launch of TAILGATE during ISPO Munich 2013 The World Freeride Festival & Tailgate Alaska are proud to announce the second installment of the TAILGATE MUNICH World Freeride Expo 2014. (26-29 January 2014) powered by ISPO.

Jose Moreno from Messe München explains: The idea behind the project is to bring together all aspects of snowboarding, freestyle and related lifestyles on one spot, including topics like latest gear, unique board designs, safety aspects, travel, publications and events. TAILGATE MUNICH will feature daily events like educational clinics, presentations, legends’ stories and other highlights. TAILGATE MUNICH is the epicenter for Freeride Snowboarding at ISPO.

Tailgate Alaska’s Rasmus Ostergaard describes it like this: We are leading the charge for the new way to market the snowboarding experience and to educate shop owners, buyers and sales staff about the trends in freeride equipment, safety gear and all things freeride that are seen as a huge driver in all communication channels whether its the movies, magazines, brand advertising or shop windows –  it’s all about the freeriding/Backcountry sensation and experiences. Our goal is to educate ISPO attendees about products and safety and grow the business for all parties involved. Everyday we will run seminars on products and trends, snow science and backcountry safety. This platform will be the place to meet and greet with other serious shop owners and brand owners and to learn more about this very important category for all shops in the boardsport market.

“TAILGATE MUNICH brings all the relevant freeride and backcountry focused product together in one spot, making for efficient one stop shopping for retailers, and giving the brands prime exposure to interested buyers.   It’s a win-win situation for everyone.” said Lisa Branner from Venture Snowboards

Freeriding participation and gear sales has increased at a rapid pace in recent years.

Many freeride participants aren’t prepared for the major risks of backcountry adventure; they don’t have the gear for self-rescue or the education they need to make good decisions. This growing trend represents an opportunity for snow sports specialty shops to sell gear and educate core consumers about the wonders and dangers of freeriding in the backcountry. This is exactly what TAILGATE MUNICH is all about, sharing insight and help educate buyers and shop staff to better sell the products and deliver the message of being safe in the backcountry.

Specialty shops could and should harness the collective energy from the freeride movement and lead the charge for  education about backcountry safety and rescue. Understanding this growing segment of wintersports will help grow their bottom line, win them new core customers and maybe even save a life.

Apart from having all those brands and products on display it was amazing to see the TAILGATE MUNICH rally together such a legendary, passionate and knowledgable group of freeriding influencers from across the world. TAILGATE MUNICH and it’s clinics are well worth anyones time when visiting ISPO Munich. - Martin owner Zero G Chamonix
