Extending a tradition of excellence and innovation, Westcomb Outerwear has been honored with a 2013 National Geographic Adventure “Gear of the Year” award for the ultralight Crest Hoodie windshirt.
The Crest Hoodie is one of the signature pieces from Westcomb’s 2013 spring/summer collection – the brand’s debut collection for warmer weather outdoor adventures.
The Crest Hoodie ($140) is an ultralight wind shell made with a single layer of Pertex® Equilibrium®. Providing a boost of weather protection at the remarkably light mark of 5 ounces, the soft-facing technical material also delivers a touch of stretch for added comfort and versatility.
“Westcomb’s Crest hoodie channels the same soft feel of the windshirt but with a fabric that’s as modern as it gets. The Pertex Equilibrium fabric is highly breathable, sheds water up to downpour level, offers two-way stretch so it’s supercomfy, and is nearly silent as it moves with you,” reads the award article in National Geographic Adventure.
As with all Westcomb apparel, the Crest is 100% made in Vancouver, British Columbia.
For Westcomb, the National Geographic Adventure award is the latest in a growing list of peer honors for their ongoing innovations in fit, material and construction. It is also the first award for a Westcomb spring/summer design.
