Award : Helly Hansen H2 Flow Honored with Norwegian Design Council Award

Norwegian Design Council Bestows Award for Design Excellence on Helly Hansen’s Innovative H2 Flow Jacket
OSLO, Norway — Helly Hansen’s H2 Flow Jacket continues to receive recognition for its innovative, patent-pending temperature regulating technology and its clean, progressive design. The latest acknowledgement is one of Scandinavia’s most prestigious design honors: the Award for Design Excellence by the Norwegian Design Council.

The acclaimed award follows on the heels of the 2012 GOOD DESIGN award, which was granted by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies, in January 2013.

Warmer, Cooler, Lighter: H2FLOW is a groundbreaking design that combines an insulation layer, an airflow venting system, and a protective barrier. It allows adventurers to regulate their body temperature in a wider variety of conditions, activities, and climates.

In Fall 2013-14, Helly Hansen will expand its H2FLOW construction into multiple mid layers, sportswear parkas, and technical ski jacket designs. Helly Hansen’s professional mountaineering and sailing partners regularly test H2FLOW™ in the world’s harshest climates, from Antarctica’s highest peak, Vinson Massif, to Cape Horn, home to notoriously rough seas.

“It is in our Scandinavian nature to create stylish, sleek apparel and outerwear that also delivers on a performance level,” said Kristoffer Ulriksen, category manager for Helly Hansen. “Helly Hansen’s H2FLOW technology is a game changer that’s transforming the way the outdoor industry thinks about temperature management.  It literally allows users to self-regulate their body temperatures in a wide variety of weather conditions.”

Helly Hansen has a long history of innovation and first-to-market product solutions that have altered the way the outdoor industry approaches protection, performance, and design. H2FLOW technology is one of many Helly Hansen firsts, including LIFA®, the first technical apparel base layer introduced in the 1970s; Pro-Pile, the precursor to modern fleece introduced in the ‘60s; and the Three-Layer Principle of dress that has become the standard for outdoor adventures.
