Retail news : MC Sports Announces Executive Changes

MC Sports announced the promotions of Rob Summerfield to EVP -chief financial officer, Dan Winchester to EVP-chief operations officer, and Irwin Wallach to SVP of store operations.

These promotions not only reflect their contributions to our company, but signal a re-alignment and a shift in oversight designed to promote greater synergy and efficiency within the organization. With these changes, we are now better positioned to pursue our plans for growth and continuous improvement within the company.”

Rob Summerfield, Executive Vice President / Chief Financial Officer joined MC Sports in 1988. He has served in accounting and finance over his 24 years with the company. In 2003, Mr. Summerfield was promoted to Controller and then to Vice President of Finance, a position he’s held since 2008. As of February 2013, Mr. Summerfield will oversee virtually all financial and administrative functions within the Company including: strategic planning, financial reporting, information technology, legal, regulatory, banking, and other administrative activities within our organization. He is a Shareholder, Secretary to the Corporation, member of the Board of Directors, member of the Executive Committee, and will report directly to the President/CEO.

Irwin Wallach, Senior Vice President Store Operations joined MC Sports in 1993, bringing with him an extensive background in operations from several national chains. Over his nearly 20 year career with the company, Mr. Wallach has served in a variety of management and executive positions including Director of Store Operations and Vice President of Operations which he held since 1998. As Senior Vice President of Operations, Mr. Wallach will continue to direct all store operating functions, including: training, special events, team sales, mount centers, and special projects. Mr. Wallach is a Shareholder, member of the Executive Committee, and will report directly to the Executive Vice President/Chief Operations Officer.

Dan Winchester, Executive Vice President / Chief Operations Officer joined MC Sports in 1986 and has served in both store operations and merchandising during his nearly 27 years with the company. Since beginning his retail career, Mr. Winchester has served in every key operational and merchandising position including Store Manager, District Manager, Buyer, and Divisional Merchandise Manager. In 2003, He was promoted to Vice President-Merchandise Manager and in 2005 was elevated to Chief Merchandising Officer. As of February 2013,
Mr. Winchester’s executive oversight will extend to all merchandising and operational areas of the company including store operations, supply chain, marketing, and merchandising. He is a Shareholder, member of the Board of Directors, member of the Executive Committee, and will report directly to the President/CEO
